Introduction to Graphic Design
This course introduces the principles and practice of graphic design. With a focus on a holistic approach to the design process, the projects and exercises will fuse foundational design techniques with critical thinking, typography fundamentals and an introduction to concept development and sustainability practices. Through exercises, assignments and class discussion, students will learn to create and critique form and content, resulting in several finished design projects. Co/prerequisite: InDesign Tools.
Instructor: Joseph Preston
Joe Preston is a veteran design director with 16 years of art direction, web development, UX/UI, motion graphics, video production and music composition in his back pocket. His work is strongly grounded in narrative and driven by the belief that the best designs provide simple solutions for complicated problems. He loves doing good work that helps good people love their work. And he’s a people person who prefers working side-by-side with clients and leading his teams by example.
