Figure Drawing I
This class will draw directly from the nude figure. A development of drawing and observational skills will be emphasized, specifically using line and value to indicate gesture and create volume. Topics include: measuring, proportion, understanding the anatomical structure, spatial relationships, foreshortening. Skills will be taught in sequence so that each new tool becomes a building block for the week to come. Primary media is graphite and charcoal. The final class session will be held on Saturday, March 25, 9-noon. Prerequisite: Beginning Drawing or equivalent, or instructor consent.
Instructor: Lynn Kitagawa
Lynn Kitagawa received her BA in Biology in 1977 from Lewis and Clark College. She received her BFA in Painting and Drawing from PNCA in 1983, and she received her MFA in Medical and Biological Illustration from University of Michigan in 1985. She has taught at PNCA since 1986, combining her background in biology and art.
