Visual Studies Art Educator Intensive
This intensive will engage with creative practice in the studio and processes of making, give support to critical thinking, analysis, and critique strategies. Participants will spend the week immersed in studio work and dialogue. This program is highly individualized for each participant, focusing on where their work presently lies within their own history and relationship, using this workshop towards enriching a particular area/areas of development. Studio meetings and critique are a vital aspect of this program, working with participants individually to develop stronger growth in ones work and and clarity in their approach to studio practice.
Non-credit and graduate credit options; a statement of background and goals as well as photos/video is required of all participants; those enrolling for graduate credit also need to provide a copy of a transcript or diploma evidencing the completion of a 4-year degree; verify with your institution regarding PDU equivalency. Inquire with the Continuing Education Office about lodging at ArtHouse, PNCAs brand new student apartments, available with enrollment in this workshop.
Prerequisite: 4-year degree or higher, though not necessarily in studio or visual arts.
PNCA offers a limited number of accommodations in its student apartment building, ArtHouse, four blocks near the college campus. Single rooms in shared apartments are $300.00 per week; double occupancy is $200.00 per week. Housing is available with concurrent workshop enrollment and by application only.
Instructor: Michael Lazarus
Michael Lazarus, who has been continuously working with programs in the undergraduate fine arts department at PNCA and mentoring visual studies graduate students. Lazarus has been working as an artist for over 20 years, has exhibited both nationally and internationally, and his work has been written about in numerous publications.
