Pre-College: Art + Animation (15-18)
Learn the foundations of animation and storytelling in this hands-on workshop focusing on a variety of animation skill sets. Over the course of eight weeks, each student will design a character, develop a story and animate a short sequence. Each session will focus on learning different traditional and digital skills. From drawing on paper to working on the computer using Adobe Photoshop and After Effects, students will create their own characters and bring them to life with storytelling.
Instructor: Yer Vue
My passion for drawing and painting led me to attend The Kansas City Art Institute, where I received my BFA in Illustration in 1993. After interning at Hallmark Cards and Disney Feature Animation, I relocated to Orlando, Florida where I spent over 10 years working for Disney on traditional animated films and shorts. My list of credits include The Little Match Girl, Brother Bear, Lilo & Stitch, John Henry, Tarzan, Mulan, Pocahontas, and Circle of Life.
Since 2006, I’ve taught animation, illustration and on-location painting at The Art Institute in Portland, Oregon. I’ve directed numerous animated shorts including R.A. (Robotic Assistance), U.F.C. (Ultimate Fairy Combat) Fido, Cinderfella, Bubbles, Masterpiece Makeover, Ethos, and Paper Indians.
